Conventional Medicine comprises a body of thought, knowledge and practice that is commonly referred to as 'modern medicine'. It is an umbrella name that covers many fields of specialisation e.g. Cardiology, as well as the provision of "General Practitioner" or GP services. Conventional Medicine also includes the provision of hospital services, radiology, pathology, surgery and pharmaceutical medicine. |

| How It Works |

Conventional medicine generally uses an approach of diagnosing a symptom or set of symptoms, and then prescribing a treatment or product (generally pharmaceutical) to address the symptom(s). |

A wide range of conditions are treated with Conventional Medicine. Generally Conventional Medicine is better at treating acute conditions as opposed to chronic conditions. |

| Expect |
 |
During a Conventional Medical Consulation a GP will discuss your medical history, conduct a standard medical examination and then recommend the most appropriate course of action. If appropriate, the GP may prescribe pathology, urine or stool analysis to assist in the diagnosis. |

| Education |
 |
YourHealth requires all of its GPs to be qualified Medical Practitioners with a Medical Degree from a reputable University. In addition, YourHealth requires all of its GPs to undertake a post graduate course in Nutritional Medicine. Additional qualifications in complementary medicine modalities such as Western Herbal Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Homoeopathy and Counselling are highly valued. |

A Conventional Medical (GP) Consultation with a Yourhealth GP generally varies from $45.00 to $60.00 for a 15 minute consultation. Initial consultations for new patients usually last between 30 and 45 minutes. For rates and further details, please contact the YourHealth centre nearest you. |
